The New Scenario
Agriculture is at the Heart of the Climate Transition
The agricultural sector is currently at a historic turning point. Pressures linked to climate change, new European ESG regulations and the evolution of global markets are profoundly redefining the rules of the game. For farms, co-operatives and consortia, this scenario does not represent a threat, but an extraordinary strategic opportunity.
The voluntary carbon credits market was estimated in 2025 at between $1.4 and $2.77 billion, depending on the calculation methodology. The outlook remains very positive: some analyses indicate growth to $3.75 billion in 2026 and a potential $5-20 billion by 2030, supported by demand from large industrial companies committed to achieving Net Zero targets. Agriculture is now one of the most valuable assets in this transition.

Fundamentals
What Carbon Farming Is
Carbon Farming is a set of scientifically validated agricultural practices that increase the ability of soil and crops to absorb and store atmospheric carbon dioxide. This process generates verifiable and certified Carbon Credits, which can be sold on the voluntary market or on regulated markets to industrial companies and institutions that need to offset their emissions.
Agroforestry
Integration of trees and shrubs into agricultural areas to maximise carbon sequestration and increase soil biodiversity.
Regenerative Agriculture
Minimum tillage techniques, advanced crop rotation and permanent ground cover to increase organic carbon.
Permanent Crops
Vineyards, olive groves and orchards managed with certifiable regenerative protocols for the continuous generation of credits over the long term.
Sustainable Soil Management
Scientific and certified monitoring of soil health, optimisation of inputs and reduction of N₂O and CH₄ emissions.
Monetisation
New Revenue Streams for Your Farm Business
Carbon Farming enables every farm business to build a diversified portfolio of revenue, independent of the fluctuations in prices for traditional agricultural commodities. A well-structured strategy can generate recurring and predictable income over time.

Distinctive Feature
Recovery of Historical Credits: Unlock the Value of What You Have Already Done
One of the most distinctive elements of the Power Group model is the possibility of assessing existing agricultural activities to verify whether, according to the adopted certification standard, it is possible to recognise carbon credits accrued in the years before the formal start of the project.
In particular, Gold Standard provides, for early mover projects in the Land Use & Forests sector, retroactive crediting of up to 10 years; standards such as Verra VCS, by contrast, allow more limited forms of retroactivity, typically in the order of 2–5 years. The new European framework EU CRCF (Reg. 2024/3012, November 2024) has introduced a dedicated framework for the certification of carbon farming.
Historical Audit of Practices
Documentary analysis of previous agricultural activities to verify any eligibility for retroactivity according to the chosen standard
Quantification of Potential
Technical assessment of the potential CO₂ removed or avoided and the recoverable credits, based on the applicable rules and the available data
Certification and Monetisation
If the requirements are met, transformation of the identified potential into certified, marketable credits
Financial Leverage
Ex-Ante Projects: Carbon Farming as a Financing Tool
Ex-Ante projects represent one of the emerging financial opportunities in Carbon Farming. These are credits issued before removal or reduction has been fully verified: a real instrument, but still in a phase of regulatory and operational maturity. Within the European framework, the EU CRCF Regulation (Reg. 2024/3012, November 2024) and the related Implementing Regulation (EU 2025/2358, November 2025) have begun to structure the reference framework. In addition, the European Commission (DG CLIMA, September 2025) has commissioned a specific study on financial mechanisms for carbon farming, including tools for advancing value.
Advancing Future Value
Credits that will be generated in the coming years can be valued in advance, helping to create an immediate and predictable cash flow
Investment Financing
Advance liquidity can support new infrastructure, machinery, land expansion or innovative technologies
Accelerating Growth
These tools can support faster investment cycles, but they require proper contractual structuring and careful risk management
Carbon Farming can become a strategic financial lever to support the growth of the agricultural business, if integrated within an adequate technical and contractual structure.
